What Draughtsman Grade II really tests
Biggest block: Paper I: Polity and economy (19%). How questions are asked.
20 zonal Draughtsman Grade II posts in the AP Forest Subordinate Service (notification 15/2026), for ITI Draughtsman (Civil) holders. One CBRT exam, Paper I General Studies (SSC standard) and Paper II ITI, 150 marks each, 1/3 negative marking, then a qualifying computer test.
Based on Paper I only, from the common Paper I of APPSC's 2022 and 2025 ASO exams (294 questions). That paper is degree standard, so treat shares as a guide.

Share of each paper's questions, by topic, in the real papers.
Difficulty in the real papers
Easy 46%
Medium 39%
Hard 15%
History, geography and current events made up about 40% of Paper I in 2022 and 2025.
Polity jumped from 3 questions in 2022 to 16 in 2025; economy was steady at 19 and 17. Skip neither.
Your syllabus names only 'reasoning and inferences', so data-analysis questions may not carry over; put that time into reasoning sets.
2025 was easier than 2022 (87 easy questions against 49), so the result turns on accuracy, not hard questions.
How questions are asked
Paper I: mostly direct one-line questions (112 of about 147 in 2022)
Paper I: 2025 added match-the-following (23) and multi-statement items (9)
Paper I: numerical items were 20 in 2022 and 7 in 2025
Paper II: no previous paper analysed; expect numerical items alongside definitions

Mistakes that cost marks
5 traps seen in the real papers
Preparing Paper II as drawing only: five of its seven units are surveying.
Skipping the arithmetic checks in levelling and traverse; options are often built from one sign slip.
Using Simpson's rule with an even number of ordinates; it needs an odd number.
Mixing up whole-circle and reduced bearings, or fore and back bearings (they differ by 180 degrees).
Blind guessing: with 1/3 negative mark, guess only after ruling out at least one option.
