A 16-week plan for Group 2

4 phases, week by week

For a graduate with about 5 hours a day, assuming screening about four months away; compress weeks 5-12 if the date is sooner.

  1. Weeks 1-4

Mental Ability every day; Indian History; Indian Society

    • Mental Ability 75 minutes a day; aim for about 60 seconds a question
    • History: modern India first (19 of 30 questions in 2024)
    • Indian Society: caste, tribe, women's issues and safeguards, with Act names and years
  2. Weeks 5-8

Geography of India and AP; current affairs backlog

    • India and AP: physiography, river basins, soils, forests, cyclones and drought-prone districts
    • Current affairs from about six months before the exam, in two-line notes
    • One 30-question sectional test of each block a week
  3. Weeks 9-12

Timed practice and the statement-heavy blocks

    • One full 150-question screening mock a week on an OMR sheet
    • Current Affairs drill: 20 multi-statement items a day
    • Solve the 2024 screening paper section by section
  4. Weeks 13-16

Two full mocks a week and the latest news

    • Two full screening mocks a week; finish Mental Ability within 35 minutes
    • Current affairs of the last three months in detail
    • After screening: AP history lists, the Constitution, then Survey and Budget

Mistakes that cost marks

5 traps seen in the real papers
  • Guessing blindly: with a 1/3 penalty, guess only when you can rule out at least one option.
  • Reading 'which is NOT correct' as 'correct': 15-18% of questions had negative stems.
  • Using a year-old current affairs compilation: many 2024 questions came from the last 2-3 months.
  • Practising 2016 or 2018 papers: a different scheme and syllabus. Only 2024 screening and 2025 Mains match.
  • Studying Mains II economy from an old textbook: the 2025 paper used Budget figures from three weeks earlier.
