12.1.3 Origin–destination surveys: cordon lines, methods, desire lines and uses
An origin–destination (O-D) survey finds where trips start and end, by what mode, for what purpose and at what time, inside a study area bounded by a cordon line; its results, shown as an O-D matrix and desire lines, are the base for planning roads, terminals and transit.
