1 Social Work: Definition, Scope, Values and Practice in India · 1.2 Methods of social work
1.2.1 Primary methods: social case work, social group work and community organisation
Social work has three primary (direct) methods that work with people face to face: social case work (one individual or family at a time; Mary Richmond, Perlman's 4 Ps), social group work (small groups; Konopka, Tuckman's stages) and community organisation (a whole community; Murray Ross, Rothman's three models); the three secondary (auxiliary) methods are research, welfare administration and social action.
